Sohrab Kavir

Sohrab Kavir is a multi-award-winning British-Iranian writer/director. He was born in Mashhad, Iran, in October 1979, and moved to the U.K. at 23 to study filmmaking. He has a BA in Digital Film Production from London Southbank University, followed by an MA in Film Making from London Film School. Sohrab has been working in the film industry since he was 19, and has professional experience as a writer-director, cinematographer, sound recordist and film editor. He is known for his award-winning feature documentary Duchenne Boys and is currently developing Roomi, his first feature fiction film: a psychological supernatural thriller with mystical undertones.

Nastaran Kavir

Nastaran Kavir is a London-based producer with multiple award-winning films in her portfolio. Born in Mashhad, Iran (1997), she is best known for producing the feature-documentary Duchenne Boys with her husband, director Sohrab Kavir, and for co-writing and starring in Forbidden Birth (2021), winner of Best Short Film and Best Ensemble Actors at the Florida/FLOW Film Festival.

Having previously studied Law in Iran, Nastaran is now pursuing her Law degree at Kingston University, focusing on Media Law – which governs the regulation of media, communication, and freedom of expression – and Intellectual Property (IP) Law, which protects creative works such as films, art, music, and brand identities.
