Sohrab Kavir is a multi-award-winning British-Iranian writer/director. He was born in Mashhad, Iran, in October 1979, and moved to the U.K. at 23 to study filmmaking. He has a BA in Digital Film Production from London Southbank University, followed by an MA in Film Making from London Film School. Sohrab has been working in the film industry since he was 19, and has professional experience as a writer-director, cinematographer, sound recordist and film editor. He is known for his award-winning feature documentary, Duchenne Boys, and he is now working on ‘Roomi’, his first feature fiction movie, which will be shot in the summer of 2023.
He lives in Stroud, England, with his wife Nastaran and his children Ella and Elia.
Nastaran Kavir is a producer with multiple award-winning films in her portfolio, residing in Stroud, England. She was born in Mashhad, Iran, in August 1997. She is mainly known for the feature-documentary Duchenne Boys that she produced with her husband, the director, Sohrab Kavir. She was also both the co-writer and the lead actress in Forbidden Birth (2021), which went on to receive Best Short Film, and Best Ensemble Actors from Florida/FLOW Film Festival.
